La propuesta levinasiana de pensar la ética como filosofía primera, sustituyendo a la ontología, tiene una enorme coincidencia con la metafísica del actus essendi tomista.
El punto de partida de la reflexión levinasiana es el ser como acto, pero no en lo que éste nos muestra sino en lo que éste nos indica sin manifestarlo: el Infinito.
La construcción de un humanismo que responda verdaderamente a lo que el hombre es, no puede pasar por alto la alternativa que Lévinas nos ofrece, alternativa que es también una posibilidad desde una metafísica que considera el ser como acto, como la entraña misma de lo real.
Tal vez la ética, como nos la presenta Lévinas, sea la otra cara de esta metafísica.
Emmanuel Lévinas’ proposal of thinking of Ethics as the first Philosophy, substituting Ontology, has an enormous coincidence with Saint Thomas Aquinas’s Metaphysics of actus essendi. The starting point of Lévinas’ reflection is the being asan act, not in what it shows us, but in what it points out without manifesting it: the Infinite. The construction of a humanism which truly responds to what man is can not overlook the alternative that Lévinas offers us, alternative that is also a possibility from a Metaphysics that considers being as an act, as the core of reality. Perhaps Ethics, as it is presented by Lévinas, is the other face of this Metaphysics.
